Simple Sweater for a Baby

Materials:

100g double knitting yarn and 4mm needles. You will also need a needle for

sewing up the side and sleeve seams.

Tension:

21stitches and 44 rows over garter stitch (knit each row) using 4mm needles.

Abbreviations for this design:

beg – beginning; k – knit; sts – stitches;

Method

This jumper is knitted all in one piece.

Cast on 44 sts loosely with 4mm needles and k 60 rows.

Cast on 30 sts loosely at the beg of the next 2 rows. These 104 sts will form

the sleeves.

K a further 26 rows.

Next row: K 36, cast off 32 sts loosely for the neck, k 35.

Next row: K 36, cast on 32 sts loosely for the neck, k 36.

Work another 26 rows on these 104 sts.

Next row: Cast off 30, k to end.

Next row: Cast off 30, k to end.

Work another 60 rows on these 44 sts. Cast off loosely.

To make up the jumper, sew the side and sleeve seams on each side.
