Nurses are always watching for signs of emotional distress
Support mothers when baby is born too soon
Mothers of pre-term babies experience high levels of stress which can impact the baby. Mothers who feel supported experience less stress.
Our packs of tiny clothes, extra soft blankets and a small supply of toiletries are for when baby is discharged -usually at just 1.7kgs.
While in the NICU we supply each tiny baby with Octopus power. These can help improve a preemie’s breathing and regulate his heartbeat and blood oxygen levels because the tentacles mimic the umbilical cord and evoke comfort and safety of the womb.
Inspire teen moms
to join support clubs and return to school
A group of teen moms leaving a fun and informative day at Thula Baba Project, equipped with their baby bags all ready for delivery day.
Equip new mothers with knowledge and tools
The buckets are incentives for mothers to complete a 10 week prenatal class and are presented as graduation gifts.
